Have you taken a deep breath today?

Have you taken a deep breath today?

As you begin your day, heading out to work, or taking the kids to school, be aware of your breath. I did this today, in the rush of first day back at school. And noticed I was indeed shallow breathing, and calm had escaped me.

I have now been reminded of the importance of the breath. (by a kind and gentle spirit guide)

“I am here to teach you about the breath. For the breath is the most important activity of the body, for without breath we are without life. Without life, we are spirit. And that is no good when we have children to raise, beds to make, and food to provide.

We must make shelter and create warmth. We must feel love, for the human being to experience real peace in their soul. Without these requirements being met, our health would start to fail. Without health, we are also no good at providing these basic needs.

I MUST reiterate the most important requirement is breath.

You may be thinking “yeah of course I do this!”, but what I am suggesting is that you breathe incorrectly. For you do not breathe deeply, you do not take long breaths, you do not focus on bringing fresh air into the deepest areas of your lungs.

I want you to take a deep breath now, feel the rib cage rise, be aware of your whole torso as it is involved in this breath.

During the out-breath feel the muscles relax, shoulders drop forward, the rib cage decreasing in size.

This wonderful tool, this wonderful gift you have been given at birth, is to breathe!

With deep breathing, you will find peace and quiet of your mind, with peace and quiet of your mind, you will feel peace in your body.

I encourage you to breathe consciously, concentrate on the in-breath and equally important the out-breath.

Whenever you feel that your heart rate increases, your mind becomes foggy, or you feel tired, ask yourself, have I breathed consciously today? Have I inhaled on purpose, with intent to fill my lungs with as much fresh air as possible?”

Conscious breathing for 10 minutes a day has been shown to have many positive effects on your health. It reduces stress and anxiety, decreases pain, increases sleep, and aids your body cells in regeneration. Conscious breathing will give back to you in many positive ways.

Conscious breathing is also a form of meditation, which I look forward to sharing with you soon.

Stay tuned,

Love & Light

Margie.
